patent issued on August 1, 2023 (U.S. 11,713,486),
which expires on December 24, 2039. The patent is titled “Biomarkers For Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.”
The Inventors are Terry W. Osborn and Marquis P. Vawter. The Applicants and Assignees are the Regents of
the University of California, Oakland, CA, and Laguna Diagnostics, LLC.
Laguna Diagnostics maintains
additional proprietary knowledge related to the technology.
The additional intellectual property patent issued on September 2, 2025 to Laguna Diagnostics (U.S. 12,404,553) provides combinations of biomarkers that can be used in the diagnosis and differentiation of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The present invention therefore provides methods of differentiating, diagnosing and treating bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, by examining relevant proteins and RNA in a patient sample.
